Discover St.Dogmaels

St. Dogmaels sits on the Teifi Estuary, just one mile from the town of Cardigan. You can pick up the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which starts or finishes here, with a link north to the Ceredigion Coast Path.

Poppit Sands Beach is located to the west of the village and is a highly sought-after destination for both families and watersports enthusiasts. This scenic spot offers ample parking space, Crwst café and a lifeboat station. The beach is vast, and you can see for miles. It is also dog-friendly in part and is perfect to tire out your pooch. You can grab some lunch or watch the world go by at Teifi Waterside Inn, where the garden is a spectacular spot.

An insider's guide to St. Dogmaels

Within the village, you will find two charming pubs, a community-owned pub, The White Heart and The Ferry, famous for its food and views. There is a tea room at The Abbey, The Coach House and a popular fish and chip shop, Mor Ffein.

If you head towards Cardigan, you will come across Glebeland’s organic market garden, which is open from Thursday to Sunday. Here, you can conveniently stock up on delicious fresh fruits and vegetables at very reasonable prices.

A popular local producers’ market takes place on Tuesdays near the Coach House, providing a pleasant setting next to the village millpond. Don’t forget to admire the peculiar wildfowl that reside there, as they always appreciate a snack.

The village boasts a 12th-century Abbey constructed on the site of a pre-Norman monastery. During the summer months, the Abbey grounds host annual performances of Shakespearean plays. The Heritage Centre next to the Abbey also hosts workshops by local artists and rolling arts, crafts, and history exhibitions.

The Y Felin water mill, believed to have been built by the Abbey in the 12th century, is one of the few working mills in Wales. It has been completely restored, with its original machinery still intact. It produces a variety of high-quality flours and milled grains available for purchase in the mill shop.
