A small garden to the rear, accessed via side door and passage, with an area of decking for sitting out. Tranquil location with lots of trees and birdsong around. On-street parking directly opposite or a short walk away subject to availability.

There is limited public transport in St Dogmaels. The nearest railway station is at Clunderwen (20 miles). There are also stations at Fishguard (23 miles), Carmarthen (28 miles) and Aberystwyth (40 miles). There are bus services (approximately hourly, Monday to Saturday only) from Aberystwyth and Carmarthen to Cardigan. Buses from Fishguard and Clunderwen are less frequent. There are several taxi firms in Cardigan. Mobile phone reception in St Dogmaels is generally reasonable. The cottage has thick stone walls, so reception inside is sometimes less good. We have free WiFi. (Download speed is around 30mbps.)

Arrival and car parking

There is unrestricted on-street parking in Union Terrace. It’s usually possible to park opposite, within a few yards of the front door but this is subject to availability. Otherwise, you can unload and then park elsewhere in the terrace, or on the main road (a few minutes’ walk away) again subject to availability. The surfaces to the front and back doors are smooth (tarmac and concrete) and fairly level. The short stretch of road which leads from the main road (Pilot Street to Union Terrace) is quite steep (but only a few yards long). The key-safe is by the side door (through the brown wooden gate on the passage to the side of the house). It contains keys for the front and back doors. The side door (into the kitchen) has a raised threshold.

Inside

The cottage is carpeted throughout, apart from the kitchen (tiles) and bathroom (vinyl). There is a step from the kitchen down into the living room/dining. The staircase to the first floor is wide, but some of the steps are slightly uneven. There is a handrail for the full length of the stairs, which it is advisable to use. The living room/dining room has plenty of circulation space. The bathroom is spacious but doesn’t currently have any support rails. The bedroom has adequate space on both sides of the (king-size) bed. The cottage has very good natural light and has ceiling lights and some wall-lights. The smart TV has a remote control. The kitchen has a cordless kettle. The microwave and fridge are at worktop height. The top electric oven (under the hob) doubles as a grill. Please be careful (and use the oven glove provided) if you are reaching in to take things out, as the grill elements are exposed but not obvious

Outside

The garden area is reached by some slightly steep concrete steps. There is a handrail. There is a further step up onto the area of decking. Overall, Craiglea presents no more challenges than many holiday properties of this type and age. It is probably not suitable for anyone who has difficulty with steps and stairs. Someone who is particularly tall would need to be careful of some low beams and doorways! Otherwise, it offers comfortable, convenient, and easy accommodation for your holiday.
