Special Offers

Castell Malgwyn Lodge is a unique character grade 2 listed building set on the bank of the River Teifi, near the village of Llechryd. The old gatehouse to the country estate is a cosy stay with a log fire and a quirky bed built from wood washed down the river.

This 1700s cottage offers a unique historical charm, with period features and quirks typical of its age, but it is prone to cooler temperatures due to its older construction. The owner has carefully kept the original features whilst adding some modern elements. This is not an ‘all mod cons’ retreat.

The Castell Malgwyn Lodge is an ideal fishing haven – the owner owns about 800m of the riverbank, and you can enjoy fishing on your doorstep ( which is enjoyed by local anglers as well as guests). Below the bridge is a good spot for worms and spinners, and at the lower section of the land there are the remains of an old fish trap. Here, you can catch sewin (sea trout unique to this area), salmon, brown trout, and mullet. Further upriver is an ideal spot for fly fishing.

The property is ideally located for sitting out and enjoying a quiet evening beside the river. An excellent spot for walking holidays, at the back of the lodge there is a river footpath which leads down to Cilgerran castle, onto the Wildlife Centre and into Cardigan. This is a real country getaway perfect for a short break away. This spot is ideal for bringing your furry friend with you as there are many amazing walks from the door.

There are many fantastic beaches nearby, including Poppit Sands, Mwnt, Newport, Aberporth and Tresaith. The wonderful Pembrokeshire Coast Path begins at Poppit Sands and stretches all the way to Amroth. It is a great place to walk and soak up the incredible scenery. The Preseli Hills, which is full of myths and legends, is also close by and well worth a visit.
