Tucked away in the seaside village of Llangrannog, Yr Hal is a charming cottage just a three-minute walk from the beach. One of the oldest properties in the village, it retains plenty of character, with whitewashed stone walls and original timber beams creating a warm and comfortable place to stay.
Set in a quiet part of the lower village beside Nant Hawen, the brook that runs down to the sea, the cottage offers a peaceful setting to relax. The lawned garden is ideal for unwinding after a day at the beach, whether you’re enjoying a meal outside or simply making the most of the evening sun.
Llangrannog has everything you need for an easy coastal break, including a pub serving food, a café, a restaurant, a fish and chip shop, and an award-winning pizza takeaway. The beach is popular for watersports such as surfing, paddleboarding, and sailing, while still being a great spot to relax and take in the views.
There are two sandy beaches to enjoy, both popular with families and surfers alike. At low tide, you can walk from the main beach around to Cilborth, a quieter second beach where it’s sometimes possible to spot bottlenose dolphins in the bay.
The area is ideal for exploring on foot, with the Ceredigion Coast Path offering 60 miles of coastal scenery, wildlife, beaches, and dramatic sea cliffs. To the south, Penbryn has a long sandy beach, while the village of Tresaith is known for its pub with views over Cardigan Bay. The small hamlet of Cwm Tydu, with its historic lime kiln, is just a short drive away.
Nearby New Quay is a popular spot for dolphin-watching boat trips, and the colourful Georgian town of Aberaeron is around half an hour away. The market town of Cardigan offers a wider range of shops, supermarkets, places to eat, as well as a theatre, cinema, and leisure centre. From here, it’s easy to explore further afield, with Pembrokeshire and the Preseli Hills to the south, and Aberystwyth and the Cambrian Mountains to the north, making Yr Hal a great base for discovering this part of the West Wales.
