A bibliophile’s paradise! Cosy up with a good book in front of the wood-burning stove in this charming rural cottage, only 10 miles from New Quay, Ceredigion. (1 bedroom, 1 bathroom)

A book lover’s dream, The Reading Room is a quirky traditional cottage converted from the original forge building set within the grounds of the owner’s home, which is the original blacksmith’s cottage. The cottage is bursting at the seams with books, so take your pick and curl up in front of the roaring wood-burning stove to relax in the evening.

The Reading Room has many original features, including wooden beams and stone walls. You probably won’t want to leave this snug retreat, but if you do you’ll find that its rural location is fantastic for enjoying the magnificent dark skies while surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, including red kites. The occasional tractor passing on the lane will only add to remind you that you’re right in the heart of the glorious West Wales countryside.

Bring your wellies and feel free to explore the garden, where you’ll find a stream and wildlife pond – a lovely place to sit back and relax. Just 10 miles from this rural idyll you’ll find New Quay, which boasts sandy beaches, an old stone pier, a great range of water sports, and boat trips where you can get close to Cardigan Bay’s famous bottlenose dolphins. Tuck into delicious ice cream or tasty fish and chips while sitting on the harbour wall, enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
