Area A - Ceredigion Heritage Coast

The spectacular Ceredigion Heritage Coast area offers award-winning wide sandy beaches and secluded coves hiding between rocky headlands. There are tiny coastal hamlets, pretty seaside villages such as Llangrannog and Tresaith, and small towns like New Quay, from where you can take a boat ride in Cardigan Bay and perhaps be lucky enough to see dolphins.

With its nature reserves and marine conservation areas, the coast is home to a rich variety of wildlife, offering the opportunity for you to spot not only dolphins but porpoises, grey seals, choughs and many kinds of sea-birds.

The landscape provides a stunning backdrop for the numerous and varied walks both along the Ceredigion Coastal Path and inland. In the rolling green countryside and wooded valleys behind the coast you may see peregrine falcons, buzzards and red kites, and perhaps an otter.

There are signposted cycle routes and angling, golf, horse riding, surfing and kayaking are also popular.

The strong tradition of Welsh history and culture in this area is apparent in the attractive coastal towns of Aberystwyth, Aberaeron and Cardigan.
